Preliminary operation
The first step you need to take if you want to find out how to change WiFi password of your router, is to locate theIP address of the device. In fact, you will need the address in question to access the router management panel and make the security changes you need.
To begin with, connect your computer (or in any case the device you intend to act on) to the WIFI network generated by your router. You can use a computer, a smartphone or a tablet: the procedure to follow is the same for all devices (although, on mobile devices, for example, you may have to press the ☰ button to view some menus that are shown in full on the PC, for the most space available on the screen).
In any case, once the connection to the Internet has been established, try to browse the Internet to verify that it is working properly and identify theIP address of the router you are connected to. You can do it very easily.
- If you employ Windows, april il Command Prompt or a window of PowerShell, using the icon in the folder Windows Accessories from the menu Home, issue the ipconfig command in it and press the key Submit: Following this action, you should see information about the network you are connected to. The router's IP address is located next to the wording Default gateway.
- A Mac, april il terminal from the menu Or> Utility macOS, type the command ipconfig getifaddr en1 and press the key Submit on the keyboard, to immediately display the information you are looking for.
- Su Androidinstead, the procedure is as follows: open the Settings of the operating system, by tapping on the symbol of rotella d'ingranaggio resident on the Home screen or in the app drawer, touch the items Rete and Internet e Wi-Fi and touch the symbol ofgear visible next to the name of the wireless network you are using. Finally, tap on the item Advanced: the IP address of the router can be found in correspondence with the wording Gateway. Depending on the Android edition installed on your device, the menus may vary slightly: on smartphones Xiaomi equipped with MIUI, for example, you have to reach the sections Settings> Wi-Fi of Android and tap on the symbol (>) corresponding to the network you are connected to, to access detailed information.
- Be il tuo è un iPhone or iPad, agreed Settings of the operating system, by tapping on thegear resident on the Home screen or in the App Library, tap the item Wi-Fi e premium pulsating (I), placed next to the name of the network you are connected to, to retrieve the IP address of the router.

How to change the Wi-Fi password
After identifying the IP address of the modem-router, it is time to explain, in practice, how to change the password of your Wi-Fi network.
Before proceeding, I consider it necessary to make a clarification: in many dual band routers (i.e. those that support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections) Wi-Fi networks on a 2.4 GHz and those on band a 5 GHz they are merged by default. Therefore, it should be sufficient to change only the main network key, for the change to propagate for both Wi-Fi connections.
If, on the other hand, the networks are separated, remember to apply the change to the access key for both, in order to avoid unpleasant problems due to the discrepancy of the two passwords.
Having made this necessary premise, it's time to get down to business: first, start the browser you prefer, type theIP address of the modem in its navigation bar and press Submit: if everything went smoothly, you should find yourself in front of the device login screen, which requires you to enter your username and password to access the management panel.
Now, if this is the first time you are trying to enter the modem, use the default credentials of the same (usually admin / admin o admin / password), or enter the data printed on thelabel affixed to the back of the modem. If you had already defined credentials in the past and you no longer remember them or, again, if you are unable to recover the default password of the router, read the instructions I have given you in this guide, to remedy the problem.
Once the login phase is complete, use the tabs, menus and buttons at your disposal to access the wireless network settings, click on the item related to network of which to modify the Password (if necessary) and enter it in the appropriate field. Finally, press the button for confirm changes.
Please make sure you change your current password to a network key that is secure and difficult to guess, at least 12 characters long; as an encryption mode, choose WPA2 or WPA2 + WPA3, which represent the currently safest standards.
Unfortunately, I am unable to tell you the exact steps to follow on your router, as these vary based on the make and model of the device. However, below you will find some specific procedures for changing the wireless network password on the modems most commonly provided by Internet service providers.
How to change WiFi password: FRITZ! Box
For example, on my router, a FRITZ! Box, you have to click on the label Wi-Fi located in the left sidebar, then on the item Safety and, subsequently, on the card Cryptography. To finish, simply enter the new password in the field Wi-Fi network key and confirm the changes by clicking on the button Apply.
Please note that you can use the same procedure for change Eolo WiFi password, since the network device supplied by the operator is usually a FRITZ! Box.
How to change WiFi password: TIM Hub
change the TIM Hub WiFi password, start the browser of your choice and connect to the IP address of the router (eg 192.168.1.1, or the one you recovered earlier). When the login screen appears, enter your username admin and the password indicated on the label on the back of the modem.
After logging in, tap on the le symbol wheels d'gear matching to the riquadro wireless and use the bar that appears on the side to select the name of the network on which to intervene.
Now, locate the section Access Point, make sure the drop-down menu Cryptography sia impostat his WPA2 PSK (otherwise do it yourself) and type the new network key within the field Wireless password. To finish, press the button Save And that's it. If you have separated the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, remember to change the password for both. More info here.
How to change WiFi password: Vodafone
To change the password of the Wi-Fi network of the Vodafone Station, connected to the address http: //vodafone.station (or to the numerical IP of the router), by Submit and, if necessary, type the username and Password that you find printed on the adhesive label on the back of the Station.
Now, if you have the Vodafone Power Station, select the tab Wi-Fi resident at the top, make sure that in the drop-down menu Protection the option is indicated WPA2 (otherwise you do it) and press the button Change Password, located in correspondence of the box Main Wi-Fi. To confirm the changes, press the key Save.
If, on the other hand, I had the Vodafone Station Revolution, reach the section Wi-Fi and indicate the network key you want to use in the field WiFi key. Again, press the button Save, to confirm the changes.
If you have enabled the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless networks in separate mode, remember to change the network password for both. More info here.
How to change WiFi password: Wind
If you have the modem WIND / WINDTRE hub, do this: after connecting to theIP address of the device, enter the username on the login page of the configuration panel admin and the password printed on the rear label of the modem.
Once this is done, press the button (☰) resident in the upper right, reach the sections Network e wireless, select the scheda General, locate the box Security level, make sure the drop-down menu Protection mode sia impostat his WPA2-PSK (otherwise do it yourself) and, after removing the check mark from the box next to the item Generate passwords automatically, enter the new network key in the field Password. Remember to do this for all active Wi-Fi networks.
When you are done, confirm the changes made by pressing the button Apply located at the bottom of the page. More info here.
How to change WiFi password: Linkem
If you have an internet connection with Linkem, you can very easily change the password of the wireless network: to do this, access the management panel of the router, connecting to its IP address and entering the user name and the protection password: if it is the first time you access the device, enter the word guest as Username and word linkem123 as a password.
Once you have reached the main page of the router, click on the box dedicated to WiFi, then on the voice Settings attached to the page that opens and, subsequently, identifies the section Pre-shared Settings. Finally, type your new password in the field Key Pass Phrase and press the button Apply, for the changes to take effect. More info here.
